The government has decided to impalement 100-MW solar power plant at Mollahat in Bagerhat district.
For this plant, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has taken up a Tk 80 crore project for land acquisition and land development, sources in the Planning Commission said.
On the other hand, the main power plant project will be constructed at a cost of Tk 960 crore under the Indian Third Line of Credit (LOC).
The authorities concerned said the government will purchase the electricity from this solar power plant. The price of each unit of electricity is fixed at 13 cents on primary basis. It may be enhanced and lowered if necessary.
The sources said the Ministry has already sent the project proposal to the Planning Commission while the Pre-Evaluation Committee (PEC) assessed it.
