Setting-up of solar LED and non-LED light on 58.8 kilometer roads at Khulna City Corporation (KCC) is progressing fast.
A total of 77 solar LED, 2,729 non-LED lights and 1,947 electricity polls are being set up on KCC roads, said KCC officials. Already 700 electricity polls have been set up in the city last month.
With an aim to produce environment friendly sustainable electricity, reducing carbon, confirming production of alternative electricity and curbing electricity bill, KCC authority has taken the project involving Tk 22 crore in cooperation with Asian Development Bank (ADB) last year, according to a KCC source.
KCC is implementing the project under 'Solar Street Lighting in City Corporation.' Besides, several hydraulic ladders, jeeps and pick-up vans will also be bought under the project.
KCC has taken the solar LED project instead of sodium light as the latter is very expensive.
