Ukraine’s military struck a Russian oil refinery in Perm overnight, more than 1,600km from the Ukrainian border, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Zelensky also reported a strike on the Marinovka military air base in Russia’s Volgograd region.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said Russian attacks had damaged or destroyed more than 300 gas filling stations in Ukraine over the past six months, causing significant economic losses.
Ukraine’s Infrastructure Ministry said Russia attacked 52 civilian vessels in July and the first half of August, including ships carrying food and other cargo to and from Ukrainian ports.
In Russia, authorities arrested eight people accused of planning an attack on a defense enterprise in the Moscow region using explosive-laden drones, while another foreign national was detained on suspicion of scouting government buildings and strategic infrastructure, Russian state media reported.
