Gunze United Limited has commissioned a 424 kWp rooftop solar PV project at its manufacturing facility in the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ), Savar, marking another step toward cleaner and more sustainable industrial energy use.
The project comprises 722 solar panels and is now fully operational, supplying renewable electricity to the facility.
It is expected to reduce the company’s dependence on conventional energy sources while supporting more efficient and environmentally responsible production.
Gunze United is a joint venture between Japanese silk thread manufacturer Gunze Ltd and Bangladeshi conglomerate United Group. The company manufactures high-value threads at its DEPZ facility.
Khondaker Zayed Ahsan, director of United Group; Khandker Sayeedul Islam, group executive director of United Group; and Hitoshi Mori, managing director of Gunze United Limited, attended the commissioning ceremony.
