Qatar has assured Bangladesh of all possible support to strengthen its energy security as the two countries discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation during a high-level meeting in Doha.
Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman met Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani at his office in Doha, according to Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry.
The Qatari Prime Minister described Bangladesh as a “brotherly country” and assured Dhaka of Qatar’s support in ensuring energy security, particularly amid the current challenging global circumstances.
Khalilur Rahman conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to the Qatari leadership and expressed Bangladesh’s solidarity with Qatar. He also praised Qatar’s role in promoting peace, security and stability in the region.
Sheikh Mohammed congratulated Khalilur Rahman on his election as President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly and pledged Qatar’s cooperation in helping him successfully discharge his responsibilities.
