An offshore incident recently resulted in a rig crewmember passing away onboard the Noble Viking drillship. Jefften Peter was a Control Union contractor who was onboard the rig, which was performing drilling operations offshore Miri, Malaysia.
According to Peter's Facebook page, he was a lead specialist mechanical inspection services employee as well as a rope access technician with Control Union.
Colleagues onboard the Noble Viking have set up a GoFundMe page to send support to Jefften Peter's wife and family.
Details about the incident or cause of death have not been disclosed by Noble or Control Union.
Sources told Offshore on April 8 that an "investigation team will join the vessel soon and will be looking for all possible details to capture."
