Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) has signed two pivotal technical cooperation projects with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) for solid waste and air pollution management.
The agreement falls under JICA’s thematic strategies for global development “JICA Clean City Initiative” (JCCI).
JCCI is one of Jica’s major global agendas, and it aims to enhance waste management and air pollution management in developing nations to realize ‘clean cities’ in urban areas in a comprehensive and sustainable manner.
Jica has been supporting the solid waste management sector in Dhaka and Chittagong for a long time.
In continuation of that support, Jica has signed the Project for Waste Reduction and Support for Building a Sustainable Society with the Economic Relations Division and Local Government Division to improve solid waste management issues in both Dhaka City corporations and Chittagong City Corporation.
