One unit of Adani Group’s coal-fired power plant in Godda, Jharkhand, India, has resumed electricity generation after a complete shutdown due to technical issues. The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) confirmed that the unit began supplying power to the national grid around 6:15 PM on Saturday, April 12. The plant comprises two units, each with a capacity of 800 megawatts.

The first unit had ceased operations on April 8, followed by the second unit shutting down early on April 11, leading to a significant power supply shortfall in Bangladesh. During the outage, BPDB increased production from oil-based power plants and requested additional gas supplies from Petrobangla to mitigate the deficit. The resumption of one unit’s operations is expected to alleviate the ongoing load-shedding across the country.
