Managing Director of the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust (BCCT) Md Rafiqul Islam passed away on Wednesday.
He (an additional secretary) breathed his last at 1 pm while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan and Environment Secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed expressed deep shock at his demise.
Rafiqul Islam, a member of the 18th BCS Administration cadre, joined the civil service in 1999 and has been in the role of Managing Director of BCCT since July last.
He is survived by his wife and one son.
