Dhaka, March 11, 2021 (BSS) - Prime Minister’s energy advisor Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, said initiative has to be taken for registration of easy bikes quickly.

 

“Easy bike or three-wheeler vehicles movement on highways must be controlled,” he told a webinar as the chief guest today.

 

Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council organized the webinar titled ‘Design Standardization of Easy Bike’ with its chairman Zakia Sultana in the chair.

 

The advisor said an initiative could be taken to charge easy bikes during off-peak hours, adding, “Charging stations will be made available. Research is also needed on how to convert three-wheelers into four-wheelers.”

 

He directed the local government division to start registration process of easy bikes within three months and prepare a report on auto rickshaws or easy bikes or three-wheelers within the next one month.

 

Speakers at the seminar said that speeding up the standardization of easy bikes would ensure security of life, generate employment and enhance revenue earnings.

 

BUET Professor Md Ihsan, Professor A Salam Akand, Professor Md Ziaur Rahman Khan and Professor Md Aman Uddin presented research papers on easy bikes.
