Dhaka, June 10, 2021 (BSS) – Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources today contributed Taka 22.25 crore to the “House Construction Fund by Private Finance” and “Coronavirus Assistance Fund”.

 

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid handed over cheques to Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus at the Prime Minister’s Office here.

 

The principal secretary received cheques on behalf of the Prime Minister for donations from the power, energy and mineral resources ministry’s various organizations.

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina initiated the funds by giving Taka five crore from the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust aimed at giving every homeless and landless people a shelter and protect the people from coronavirus.

 

According to the ministry source, companies under the power division contributed Taka 10 crore to the two funds, while companies under energy division contributed Taka crore to the House Construction Fund and Taka 5.25 crore to the Coronavirus Assistance Fund.

 

The organizations are: Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB), Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Ltd, Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) Ltd, Coal Power Generation Company (CPGC) Ltd, Ashuganj Power Generation Company (APGC) Ltd, Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) Ltd, West Zone Power Distribution Company (WZPDC) Ltd, Northern Electric Supply Company (NESCO) Ltd, Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (EGCB) Ltd, Rural Power Company Ltd (RPCL), BR Power Gen Company Ltd, North-West Power Generation Company Ltd, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation and Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla).

 

The organizations under the ministry provided the donation as part of social responsibility.
