
Stranded gas from Bhola would be supplied to mainland through pipelines in the next three years, said state minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid recently.
Bhola is a natural gas-rich area of the country.
The government has made a move to drill nine new exploratory wells on the island of Bhola.
Mr Hamid said this while visiting Shahbazpur gas field in Bhola recently.
The government will strengthen oil and gas exploration activities to ramp up domestic natural gas output.
Currently, an estimated 5.0 mmcfd of gas is being supplied in compressed natural gas (CNG) form to Gazipur and Bhaluka industries.
The volume of gas will be augmented to 25 mmcfd of gas in phases.
