The government has allocated Tk119.56 crore to union parishads across Bangladesh to implement solar power projects aimed at supplying renewable electricity to the national grid.
The Local Government Division released the funds as a one-time special allocation under the Union Parishad Development Assistance sector of the Annual Development Program (ADP) for fiscal 2026-27.
A government order said the allocation must be used exclusively for the approved solar projects, with expenditures following the Union Parishad Development Assistance Utilization Guidelines, 2021 and the Public Procurement Rules, 2025.
The funds will be released through the respective union parishad accounts under prescribed procedures, with Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) responsible for drawing and disbursing the money. Any unspent funds must be returned to the government treasury by June 30, 2027.
The Finance Division approved the release of the funds on September 15.
