Subsea7 has secured an extension to its contract with Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Center AS (TP-OTC) for the Sakarya Phase 3 development in the Black Sea, offshore Türkiye.

The extended scope covers towing and mooring line installation and connection activities for the project’s floating production unit (FPU), which is scheduled for commissioning in 2028.

Project management and engineering will be carried out from Subsea7’s Istanbul office, with work starting immediately.

Sakarya Phase 3 will connect the newly discovered Goktepe field to the Phase 3 FPU. The development is located about 170 km offshore in water depths of around 2,150 meters.

Sakarya, Türkiye’s largest natural gas discovery, holds about 405 billion cubic meters (bcm) of proven gas reserves. Discovered in August 2020, the field is being developed in three phases by Turkish Petroleum (TPAO), which operates the field with a 100% interest.
