Bangladesh expects to ease its power shortage significantly before next summer by expanding solar generation, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit said recently.
The government is providing incentives and other facilities to solar power entrepreneurs, with a target of generating at least 3,000MW of solar power before next summer, he said at a meeting in Jashore.
Amit said the government was also adjusting domestic fuel prices in response to rising global oil and gas prices while taking public interests into consideration.
The state minister made the remarks at a discussion organized by the Jashore district administration at the PTI auditorium. The meeting focused on improving education quality, moral education, cleanliness and sanitation at educational institutions.
