The Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) has termed the ongoing movement by a faction of Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS) "unjustified" and accused them of attempting to destabilize the country's power sector and the interim government.
In a recent press release, BREB stated that despite various justified benefits already being provided, a group of dismissed officials and staff continues to demand reinstatement. It also alleged that the protesters are pursuing "irrational" demands at the cost of public service.
"Despite enjoying various facilities, a group of PBS officials and employees are pushing personal agendas that obstruct customer service," read the statement, signed by Tamanna Kabir, director (administration) of BREB.
The statement comes after the PBS announced a "March to Dhaka" program to press home their seven-point charter of demands, which includes the removal of the BREB chairman.
