Russia’s state energy corporation is set to make a breakthrough in the wind energy sector by constructing a wind power station outside Russia.

The capsule of the power station was laid in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan, recently. The main construction of the 100 MW capacity wind farm is scheduled to begin in 2025 and is expected to be operational by the end of 2026. Currently, wind measurements are being carried out at the site.

"We have begun to realize one of the United Nations targets for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Although the Kyrgyz Republic is among the regions with the greatest potential for renewable energy sources, we have so far not used wind, solar, and biogas energy. We have over 300 sunny days a year, and the power of the local wind is reflected in folk legends,” said Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Kyrgyz Republic.
