Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently pledged to implement 10 ongoing mega projects, including power projects, if her party is voted to power again through the upcoming national election.

“For the first time in the country, 10 mega projects are being implemented at a time. We are committed to implementing these mega projects,” she said while unveiling her party’s election manifesto.

The projects are Padma Bridge, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Rampal coal-fired Power Plant, Deep Sea Port, Dhaka Mass Rapid Development Transit Project, LNG Terminal, Moheshkhali-Matarbari Integrated Infrastructure Development Project, Payra Sea Port, Padma Bridge rail link and construction of Rail track between Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar.

The AL president, in the manifesto, said the construction work of the country’s first nuclear power plant is underway. A total of 2400MW of electricity will be generated from the plant by 2024, she said.

“Sonadia deep-sea port, Rampal power plant and Matarbari power plant projects are being implemented. The construction of LNG terminal has been completed and the supply of LNG to national grid has already started,” Hasina said.
