A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) and Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) recently for setting up a plant to generate power from garbage.
CCC Chief Executive Officer Md Shamsuddoha and BPDB IPP Cell Chief Engineer Md Mahbubur Rahman signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations at the CCC Conference Room.
CCC Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, Chief Engineer Lt Col Mohiuddin Ahmed, Secretary Md Abul Hossain, Chief Conservancy Officer Shafiqul Mannan Siddiqui, BPDB Southern Zone (Chattogram) Chief Engineer Prabir Kumar Sen, Superintendent Engineer Shamsul Alam, Engineer Rezaul Karim and Assistant Chief Engineer Imam Hossain were present at the signing ceremony, among others.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Mayor Nasir Uddin said initiative for implementing the project was taken at the directive of the prime minister.
“PDB will procure the power to be generated at the plant and CCC will provide the land free of cost,” he said.
