Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) prices must be fixed at an affordable level so that industries can market their products particularly textiles and readymade garments at competitive prices among other Asian countries.

Bangladesh is now facing stiff competition from Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and South Korea in marketing its products in the world market specially in Europe, the United States and Canada.

However, it has been a pragmatic and timely decision of the government to import LNG when industrial productions are being hampered due to shortage of gas.

These observations were made by Md Khorshed Alam, Director, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, while talking to a local daily.

He dwelt on import of LNG, its transmission which is yet to be started. The first chunk of LNG has already been imported and is waiting re-gasification at Moheskhali LNG terminal.
