The Nou Kalyan Foundation Trading Company Limited (NKFTCL), a welfare enterprise of Nou Kollan Foundation (NKF) of Bangladesh Navy, has expressed its interest to set up a LPG-based power plant at Payra sea port in Patuakhali.
The plant, having capacity to generate 450MW of electricity will be built under unsolicited deal and run on built-own-operate (BOO) basis.
Syed Irshad Ahmed, managing director of NKFTCL, has already submitted an expression of interest (EoI) for setting up the power plant to State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid recently.
Earlier in 2014, the NKFTCL also submitted a proposal for setting up a 1320MW coal-fired power plant. But the proposal was not materialized.
“We have received a proposal from NKFTCL….they want to set up a 400MW plant,” said an official of the power division.
The power division yet to seek complete proposal from them, the official said.
