A month- long photo exhibition titled ‘People, Nature, Technology’ has begun at the Nuclear Energy Information Centre of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novotheatre in the city on Thursday, July 11, 2019 to celebrate the Russian Photographer’s Day. ‘Energy of the Future’ of Russia organizes the exhibition.

 

The exhibition features 24 unique works of professional and amateur photographers from Hungary, Belorussian Republic, Egypt, India and Bangladesh. The photographs were selected by an international jury out of hundreds of entries, submitted for ASE International Photo Awards - 2019, which was organized by Atomstroyexport (ASE), engineering division Russia’s state atomic energy corporation- ROSATOM and General Contractor of Rooppur Nuclear Power Project. Out of 24 photographs 8 belong to Bangladeshi Photographers – Polash Shikdar, Muhaimen Ur Rashid, Saif Shumon, Mirza Shakil, Alamin Leon and Mihir Kumar Shil. Mirza Shakil of The Daily Star was selected as one of the three winners for his work ‘Celebration of Life’.

 

The exhibition gives a chance to have an exciting journey to the countries, which build nuclear power plants using Russian technologies. It is a possibility to see people`s emotions, wildlife and high-tech, feel the world’s diversity in all its beauty.

 

The inauguration ceremony included a tele-conference between the Nuclear Information Centre (ICONE) at Novotheatre and the similar centre in Minsk, capital city of Belarussian Republic, that is also building their first nuclear power plant with Russian assistance.  Photographers from Bangladesh and Belarus shared their experience with the audience while the visitors shared their comments and emotions photography. Yousuf Tushar, General Secretary of Bangladesh Photographic Society conducted a master-class on ‘How to be a good photographer’ for the members of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Nuclear Club, Photographic Societies of BUET and Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST).  Prof.   M A Rashid Sarkar delivered a lecture on nuclear power plants and VVER-1200 Safety features for the audience.

 

Maxim Dobrokhotov, Director of Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Dhaka gave away certificates to the Bangladeshi Photographers for their achievement in the ASE Int’l Photo Awards 2019.

 

The exhibition is open for visitors at Nuclear Energy Information Centre (1st floor of BSMR Novotheatre from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm everyday (Except Wednesday).
