The Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd (PGCB) will develop a 135-kilometer long, 230kv double-circuit electricity transmission line between Barisal and Faridpur via Gopalganj. The project will cost about Tk 605 crore.
The PGCB and Indian firm Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd signed a deal recently at PGCB office to construct the transmission line under turnkey basis.
PGCB company secretary Md Ashraf Hossain and Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd General Manager Jayanta Basu signed the deal on behalf of their respective organizations.
Asian Development Bank, government of Bangladesh and PGCB will jointly fund the project under Southeast Transmission Grid Expansion here in Bangladesh.
At present the PGCB is supplying electricity to Barisal (North)-Gopalganj (North)-Faridpur through 132kv transmission line.
After construction of the high voltage transmission line at the region, the consumers will get reliable and smooth supply of electricity.
