Riva Ganguly, newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, had a courtesy call on State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid in Dhaka today (Wednesday) and discussed about various issues of mutual interest.

Welcoming the High Commissioner, Nasrul said the two countries have been working sincerely together for the last 10 years and the cooperation has been deepening by the passage of time.

They had talks about all the possible areas of cooperation like the oil pipeline, gas connection, electricity import and LNG terminal.

Riva Ganguly sought Nasrul’s assistance to materialise the government-to-government as well as other projects. She informed that the Indian private companies are eager to invest in Bangladesh’s energy sector.

Nasrul informed the High Commissioner that Bangladesh is badly in need of gas. “We are looking forward to importing electricity as well.”

Among others, first secretary of Indian High Commission Gaurav Gandhi was present at the meeting.
