DHAKA, Sept 5, 2018 (BSS) – The Power and Energy Week 2018 will kick off tomorrow across the country with a slogan “Anirban Agami” (Indomitable Future).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the programme at a function at International Convention City, Bashundhara in the city tomorrow.

“The main goal of the week is to highlight the government’s various activities, success and achievement in power and energy sector among people,”

Prime Minister’s Energy Advisor Dr Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram told at a press conference at Mukti Hall of Bidyut Bhaban today.

He said around 20 foreign distinguished personalities including Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Ministers would join the power and energy week’s programs this year.

Joining the press conference state minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid said the government is marching towards materializing the Vision 2021 for fulfilling people’s demand. There will be also an exhibition of power and energy-related goods. Local and international public and private firms will showcase their products and services at the expo.

“The Awami League-led government has achieved succes in the power and energy sectors and the government is going to celebrate 20,000 MW power generation capacity during the observance of the week,” he said.

Nasrul said within only 10 years, this tremendous success is a rare achievement. It would be remembered through illuminating celebration during the power and energy week.

The state minister said a career fair will also be taken place in the same venue as part of the program where students would be able to get internship facility in different power generation and energy related companies.

 “After the internship, the students will also get job in the sector,” he said.

Nasrul said students from different universities will participate in the event with their innovative ideas and projects.

During the week, officials of different public entities will be awarded for their best performances while journalists will also be given award for their best reporting.

Apart from this, four seminars will be held during the week to be participated by local and foreign experts.

Among others, Power division secretary Dr Ahmed Kaikaus, energy division secretary M Abu Hena Mohammad Rahmatul Monim also spoke at the briefing.
