DHAKA, Nov 7, 2017 (BSS) - Prime Minister's Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury today urged all students of the country to be more creative and innovative in their practical life.

'Our students should be more creative and innovative as it will help them to flourish their talent and bring welfare for country's people', he said while addressing a daylong workshop as the chief guest.

The workshop titled "Applied Research on Energy and Power" was held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium of Dhaka University (DU) campus.

The Institute of Energy (IE) of DU and Energy and Power Research Council (EPRC) jointly organised the event.

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman presided over the inaugural function while Chairperson of Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council Shahin Ahmed Chowdhury, Member of SREDA Salima Jahan, Vice-Chairman of Bengal Group of Industries Jashim Uddin, Chairman of SUMMIT Group of Companies Md Aziz Khan and President of BSREA Dipal Chandra Barua addressed the program as special guests.

Director of the Institute of Energy of DU Professor Dr Saiful Huque delivered the welcome address.

Tawfiq-e-Elahi also underscored the need for innovative research works so that this could be applied directly in people's practical life at households as well as industries across the country.

He said the government wants to use new equipment at workplaces to enhance production as well as boost capacity of workers.

DU VC Professor Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for conducting a comprehensive effort to develop the renewable energy sector of the country.

He also called upon the researchers to come forward with interdisciplinary approach to make this sector sustainable.
