DHAKA, Sept 24, 2017 (BSS) - Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) will hold public hearings for seven days in two phases from September 25 on price change for bulk and retail electricity.

The hearings would be held from September 25 to 28 and from October 2 to 4 at the TCB Bhaban in the city's Karwan Bazar, according to a BERC statement issued here yesterday.

All companies and agencies from the power sector have already submitted their proposals to BERC on electricity price change at the retail level and the BERC has formally accepted the proposals.

The state-owned Power Development Board (PDB) and Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) have sent a proposal to the BERC to change the rate of power tariff at bulk and retail levels.

The BPDB also sent a proposal to the commission asking to increase the retail price of electricity by Taka 0.72 per unit (kilowatt-hour).

Besides, the Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd, Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd, West-Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd and North West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd have also sent their proposals in this regard.
