NAY PYI TAW, Aug 14, 2017 (BSS) - State Minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid today said the economic baseline of Bangladesh and Myanmar would be strengthened further if power and energy sector's cooperation is improve.

 

"Bangladesh and Myanmar would be a bridge between South Asia and South East Asia and power sharing would also strengthen friendly relations among the neighbouring country," he told a bilateral meeting with Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

Nasrul Hamid is leading a five-member Bangladesh delegation in the meeting, while power and energy minister of Myanmar U win Khaing is leading his country, according to a message received here today.

 

The state minister said they have discussion on power and energy issue along with the mutual interests.

 

"We need huge electricity for continuation of the present tremendous development under the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government and Myanmar can export power and gas to Dhaka," Nasrul said, adding that inert grid between Bangladesh and Myanmar would play more benefit.

 

The state minister thanked Myanmar for resolving maritime boundary with Bangladesh. He also invited Myanmar's minister and deputy minister for visiting Bangladesh.
