DHAKA, Aug 6, 2017 (BSS) - State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said Bangladesh wants to join Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) natural gas pipeline as the country needs huge gas to keep continue with the trend of development.

 

He came up with the remarks when Turkmenistan's non-resident ambassador to Bangladesh Parakhat Durdyev met him at his secretariat office here, said a press release.

 

The state minister hoped the TAPI gas pipeline will open a new door of potentialities in the region.

 

Turkmenistan ambassador welcomed the interest of Bangladesh to join TAPI project.

 

Parakhat Durdyev said there is scopes for doing more works for the two countries in the petro product related sector.

 

The ambassador said gas is going to Hong Kong from Turkmenistan through the pipeline while CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is also going to Afghanistan, Iran and China.

 

During the meeting, Parakhat Durdyev handed over an innovation letter to Nasrul Hamid to join the 28th conference of International Energy Charter on November 28 and 29 in Turkmenistan's capital of Ashgabat.
