DHAKA, July 29, 2017 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said the fuel mix is being diversified to keep its price rational and tolerant level. 


“The main objective of the government is to ensure energy security and provide electricity to every household with affordable price,” he told as the chief guest a seminar titled “Energy Scenario and Prospect of Petroleum and Mining Engineering in Bangladesh” at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) here.

Director General of Power Cell Engineer Mohammad Hossain presented a keynote paper on ‘the power and energy sectors’ achievement and future work plan’.

Commandant of MIST Major General M Abul Khayer and Professor of Geology Department of Dhaka University Dr Badrul Imam spoke on the occasion.

Nasrul laid emphasize on the need for gas exploration in shallow and deep sea along with increasing natural gas production.

The state minister said the LPG is now being used in almost 70 percent of the households, adding, if there had a deep sea port in the country, the price of LPG would have been much lower. However, efforts are being taken to reduce its price.
