The government recently handed out no objection certificates (NOCs) to four companies to purchase energy efficiency machineries worth Tk 397.16 crore from aboard. The interest rate has been fixed at 4 per cent.
The move is part of the government’s initiative to promote energy efficiency in the industry, building and household sectors, as well as to raise awareness on the benefits of saving energy.
Among the four companies, Meghna Cement Mills Ltd received an NOC for Tk 127 crore, BEXIMCO for Tk 110 crore, Preety Eco Apparels Village Ltd for Tk 84.4 core and Tithi Textile Mills Ltd for Tk 57.76 crore.
Nasrul Hamid, state minister for power, energy and mineral resources, handed over the NOCs to the companies at a ceremony titled “Energy Efficiency and Conservation Project Promotion Financing Program”.
It was organized by the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in the city.
