BNP recently questioned the huge investment in power sector as the country is now experiencing ‘serious power cut’ amid scorching heat.

“Lakhs of crore of taka has been spent on power generation. But, we now see a serious power crisis. So, the investment (in power sector) doesn’t match with the production,” said BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan.

He came up with the remarks while speaking at a discussion arranged by Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal at the Jatiya Press Club, marking BNP founder Ziaur Rahman’s 36th death anniversary.

The BNP leader said the government must be accountable to people someday as it has failed to ensure power for them despite spending huge public amount of money from them for the power sector.
