Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) is receiving bids from suppliers to import diesel, jet fuel and furnace oil during July-December 2017 to meet huge fuel demand.
Officials said the BPC intended to import 680,000-860,000 tonnes of diesel, 100,000 tonnes of jet fuel and 80,000-100,000 tonnes of furnace oil to cater the domestic needs.
The petroleum import is being made from suppliers under three groups - Group A, Group B and Group C.
Under Group A, a selected international oil supplier would provide up to 430,000 tonnes of diesel and 50,000 tonnes of jet fuel, of which 240,000-330,000 tonnes of diesel should be supplied in a full cargo and 100,000 tonnes of diesel and 50,000 tonnes of jet fuel in a combination cargo.
Under Group-B category the selected international oil supplier would provide similarly up to 430,000 tonnes of diesel and 50,000 tonnes of jet fuel. Of the amounts, 240,000-330,000 tonnes of diesel should be supplied in a full cargo and 100,000 tonnes of diesel and 50,000 tonnes of jet fuel in a combination cargo.
For group C, the selected supplier would supply 80,000-100,000 tonnes of furnace oil.
A full cargo means it would carry 30,000 tonnes of petroleum products.
