Prime Minister's energy advisor Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury said that there would be no load-shedding during the upcoming Ramadan and the subsequent summer.

There might be power outage due to technical fault but no load-shedding of electricity would be required, he said.

Mr Elahi made the comments at an inter-ministerial meeting to review the overall electricity supply situation during the upcoming Ramadan and the subsequent summer.

The meeting favored keeping the CNG (compressed natural gas) filling stations shut for six hours from 5-11 pm daily during the month of Ramadan to ensure uninterrupted electricity.

Shopping malls, super markets and commercial entities should follow the existing regulations to check misuse of electricity.

There should have cautious use of air conditioners (AC) during 'Iftar and Tarabi' of Ramadan, according to the meeting's decision.

The meeting decided to strengthen monitoring and ensure holiday staggering and operate 'mobile courts,' if necessary.

The meeting reached consensus over keeping clients abreast with any decision on load-shedding.

It also decided to form a committee for preparing load-shedding schedule by the electricity distributors.
