Pursuing all the sectors alignment and technological support on upgrading the guidelines on biogas technology for energy, a day- long workshop has been done on “Stakeholders Validation Workshop” by Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA).

 

This workshop brought all the biogas expertise and specialists on a platform to provide vital observations and advices for improving the guidelines of biogas technology for energy. It provided systematic knowledge and suggestions for sustainable development of a National Biogas Program in Bangladesh.

 

Presentation on salient features of “Guidelines on Biogas Technology for Energy” was made by Prof. Dr. M. Nurul Islam, BUET where he gave a brief on the background, contents, financial models, legal and policy aspects and action plan for biogas program.

 

Chief Guest, Mr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury BB, PhD, Adviser (Minister) to the Prime Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs praised the comprehensive report as a vender.

 

He uplifted waste management along with plastic as a great challenge. It is high time to scale up and commercialization of waste management in all places and for that interest of stakeholders and experts is the main concern, he said.

 

“Any national policy requires much attention and integration on basis of fund. So we are to think about it whether it exists or not for a sustainable development in any sector said Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus, Senior Secretary, Power Division.

 

Appreciating SREDA, he also praised power division as a package of proper policy and law.

 

Stakeholders raised their question towards experts and respected authority to improvise the existing guideline.
