BNP recently alleged that the government is going to take an "anti-people" move of raising gas tariffs for "creating a further scope for the ruling party men to plunder public money".

Speaking at a press conference at BNP's Nayapaltan central office, party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi demanded the government back off from such a move immediately.

"The government has initiated a process to hike the gas price. The minister concerned said the gas tariff will be raised. We think such a move will only create another scope of looting public money," he said. The BNP leader further said, "I, on behalf of BNP, strongly condemn and protest the government's move. I urge the government to retreat from such an anti-people step."
