With a view to creating global awareness on climate change, a three-day international conference on climate change was held at Dhaka University (DU) recently.
Centre for Climate Change Study and Resource Utilization of University of Dhaka (DU) jointly with Bangladesh Association of German Universities in Bangladesh for the first time organized the conference from March 1-3.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the conference at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium on the campus.
He said this conference is an important event to address common challenges of climate change and is also a big knowledge-sharing opportunity.
It'll play an important role to enhance the scope of development for sound policies, institutional framework and other adoption strategies such as technology innovation in order to lessen the damage from global warming.
He urged the leaders of the world community to come forward with their cooperation to make the global environment safe.
Addressing the function, German Ambassador Peter Fahrenholtz talked about Bangladesh and the climate change problems in the context of the world. He stressed the need for creating awareness on climate change issues among the people so that they can play effective role in this regard.
