The government is likely to allow Westin Dhaka Limited sponsored Unique Hotel and Resorts Limited for setting up an LNG-fired power plant at Meghnaghat in Narayanganj. The plant will have a capacity to generate 600MW of electricity.

The power division will soon put forward a summery to the Prime Minister’s office in this regard, said officials concerned.

The company proposed for setting up a 1200MW LNG (liquid natural gas)-fired power plant at Meghnaghat under unsolicited deal.

The plant will be set up under joint venture with Netherlands based Guayama PR Holdings BV ltd.

The project will be implemented under build, own and operate (BOO) basis, said a director of Unique Hotel. The Unique Hotel and Resorts will implement the power plant at its own land.

The Unique Hotel and Resorts will have 65.01 percent partnership while the Guayama PR Holdings BV ltd will get 30 percent share and Strategic Finance Ltd will have 4.99 percent share.
