The relevant authorities in Bangladesh have received bids to build its 7.5 million tonnes per year onshore LNG receiving terminal on a build-own-operate-transfer basis from 10 global firms.

The firms are from Japan, the US, South Korea and China, and their consortia, managing director of state-owned Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Co. Ltd., Md Quamruzzaman said recently.

Half of the total firms and their consortiums that have submitted expressions of interest are from Japan, two each are from South Korea and China, and one is from the US, he said.

Quamruzzaman said that the companies and consortiums submitted EOIs on close of the bid submission deadline on July 12.

An evaluation committee would shortlist from these 10 for final proposal submissions, he added.

Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited (RPGCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of state-owned Petrobangla, floated the international tender seeking proposals from the bidders on March 14, he said, adding that the deadline was extended following requests from some potential bidders.
